Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage can be used to invigorate and revitalise the body, by improving your range of movement, flexibility of joints, pain and energy levels and sleep quality.

Massage can be used individually, or along with other holistic therapies, to treat body, mind, spirit and soul, by means of mechanical, physiological and reflex techniques.

Early in the  19th century, Per Henrik Ling, a Swedish fencing instructor travelled to China bringing back many of the techniques used in massage to this present day.

Effleurage is a gliding technique to soothe and relax muscle tissue and nerves.

Friction is used to break up adhesions and inflammation , assisting in keeping connective and scar tissue pliable.

Petrissage is used as a cleansing movement, bringing fresh arterial blood and oxygen to the tissue, removing lymph, lactic acid and other waste products from the body by pumping, squeezing and stretching techniques.

Tapotement is used to stimulate nerves and tissue, developing and repairing wasted tissue. This can also be used as preparation prior to strenuous exercise
